Spurgeons is one of the UK's leading children's charities, firmly supported by Christian beliefs and values, helping to support disadvantaged children and their families through delivering projects to support children, young people, their families and communities to find long-lasting solutions to the challenges they face.

We are passionate about the work we do and need equally committed members on our team to help us achieve those goals.

We currently have a vacancy for a family services worker based at HMP Maidstone. The post is for 20 hours per week and is fixed term until 31/03/2020. The ability to work weekends is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy team, delivering a range of support to men in prison and their families and significant others. We run family days throughout the year, giving fathers and their children the chance to spend an extended visit together. We also provide one to one support to the men, as they prepare for release helping them to maintain their family ties. Alongside this we deliver violence reduction parenting courses. There will be opportunities to develop, including training to facilitate the courses.

You will hold a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field and experience of working in criminal justice is desirable, but not essential.

We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people we serve. This post is subject to necessary safeguarding checks including prison clearance and an appropriate level DBS Disclosure.
