Norwich Connect is a whole family support service for individuals and families affected by domestic abuse regardless of gender, sexuality, age, or disability, including victims, perpetrators and children/young people.

We believe that every survivor of domestic abuse, and their family, deserves the right response, at the right time, to make them safe, sooner.

Between 2018 and 2021, SafeLives are working with partners from the Norfolk County Community Safety Partnership to pilot a Beacon site of best practice in Norfolk for victims of domestic abuse. Norwich Connect, which is delivered by Spurgeons, is one element of this.

The following volunteer roles require a satisfactory DBS check and two references. We are looking for daytime availability during the week.

  • Peer Mentor: To provide one-to-one peer support to an adult who has experienced domestic abuse. To work with them to realise, and achieve goals, to enable them to live a more rewarding and fulfilling life. This role is for someone who has lived experience of domestic abuse.

  • Adult and/or Youth Group Support: To provide support to the team member running the group, to enable the smooth running of the sessions. To encourage and support individuals within the group. This role is for someone with or without lived experience of domestic abuse.

Benefits:

  • Full training provided prior to starting role.

  • On going support and training throughout role.

  • Improve skills and knowledge of working with vulnerable groups and individuals.

  • Expenses will be covered. When pre-agreed with the Peer Co-ordinator.

  • If requested, we will provide references for future employment.

An introduction to the charity and full training will be provided so no prior knowledge of the organisation is required.

Testimonial

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“The shop, the barn, the scullery, and the smithy become temples when men and women do all to the glory of God. The 'divine service' is not a thing of a few hours and a few places, but all life becomes holiness unto the Lord, and every place and thing, as consecrated as the tabernacle and its golden candlestick.
