what the Network offers

In addition to the benefits outlined in Network membership we also offer support through consultancy.

Consultancy Support

Do you need help to develop your work? Or a critical but sympathetic friend to help you work through particular issues? Maybe you’ve reached a crossroads because something has changed or a key person has moved on?

As a member of Spurgeons Network, you can phone or email us to talk through your query or situation. We can usually give you further information there and then, or get back to you within a short time scale, free of charge as part of your membership.

If you decide that you need more specific support, we’d be happy to discuss what package of help would be most appropriate. The input and advice we can offer is based on many years' work and experience in the field, as well as current best practice in the children’s services sector. We would usually need to cover our costs for this kind of support.

We can offer:

Support for trustees in their responsibilities for a project or charity working with children and young people, as well as other governance issues

Coaching and mentoring for staff or key volunteers

Reviews and evaluations for projects, programmes or specific activities

Practice based input for your type of work from experienced practitioners, covering safe and best practice but also areas like safeguarding, participation, outcomes based planning

Fundraising help with grant applications, tenders and bids, research for funders in your area and local fundraising

Finances managing different income streams, budget templates, financial planning

Training for groups of staff and volunteers on a range of practice based issues

Please do give us a call on 019 02 877560 or email us, our dedicated team are happy to help – Gill Miles, Network Advisor or Rachel Shackleton, Network Manager.

“The Network is providing a sort of consultancy for us, which we budgeted for in our running costs - I’d definitely recommend it to others working with children and young people.” My(Zone), Oxfordshire
