Spurgeons transfers international work

After a lot of thought, prayer and discussion, Spurgeons has made the difficult decision to transfer its international work to another organisation in order that it can concentrate its efforts on the larger part of its work, which is UK focused.
Sourgeons has been privileged to work internationally, making a real difference to children, families and communities facing dire poverty for 20 years - and we’re proud of the work that we’ve done. However, our main focus and expertise is as a UK children’s charity - and that work continues to grow and develop.
Compared to our UK work, our international work is a very small part of our activities and we’re not specialists in this field. As a result, as of 01 January this year our overseas work in Kenya and Uganda will transfer to Global Care where it will continue to progress and thrive.
Global Care is a Christian international relief and development organisation with more than 25 years' experience in this field. We’re confident that they will ensure a bright future for the children that Spurgeons’ has been supporting.
Spurgeons’ Chief Executive Tim Jeffery says: ‘We believe that this partnership with Global Care ensures the long term sustainability and effectiveness of the work in Africa and of the child sponsorship programme. I would like to thank every single person who has given such dedicated support of our work both at home and overseas. I urge you, for the sake of so many vulnerable children, to continue this support whether through Global Care in Africa or Spurgeons here in the UK.’
