Christmas Food Box Appeal
Our projects work with children and families facing any number of different challenges but, increasingly, we are seeing families having to deal with the problems caused by dire poverty. Many of us struggle to make ends meet at Christmas but for some of the families we work with, this struggle means facing the unbearable decision of whether to spend what little they have on a Christmas dinner for their family, heating for their home or a small gift for their children.
For some years now, Spurgeons has alleviated this pressure by supplying these families with a Christmas hamper containing all the essentials of a Christmas dinner as well as other food to tide them over the festive period. We know that some families rely on their Spurgeons’ Food Box to ensure that they can celebrate Christmas with less of a financial burden – to literally, save their Christmas.
Fabulous, festive fundraising
This year our supporters had the opportunity to help to fund these Christmas-saving Food Boxes by making a financial contribution towards buying what was needed. We have been amazed by your generosity as the total raised currently stands at £27,000. The reality of Christmas for these families is that without the boxes they would otherwise have had to go without or into debt, just to provide a Christmas dinner. THANK YOU for saving Christmas!
