how we work

Local services with the back up of national resources

To ensure our services are relevant and tailored to local needs, we focus our work in defined geographical “hubs.” Each hub supports a range of focused, local service delivery models, enabling decisions to be made and strong lasting relationships to be established. These local hubs also benefit from the assurance that comes from the level of resources, infrastructure and systems available to a national charity, with the back up of professional advice, expertise and financial security.

A professional approach

Our work with children and young people is underpinned by professional standards for the delivery of services. We operate robust policies and procedures across our work, placing high emphasis on the value of service user participation, health and safety compliance, quality management systems (ISO 9001 Certified) and environmental sustainability.

Safeguarding

The safety and well-being of children are central to the services we deliver and our robust policies and procedures ensure that safeguarding is our priority in all of our services. We have a national safeguarding panel that retains an overview of safeguarding within the organisation and provides a forum for learning and sharing good practice. Our national Safeguarding Advisor also advises and supports our staff, ensuring our systems and processes always promote the best interests of children.

Outcomes for children

Our services are designed with results in mind and we have adopted the Outcomes Based Accountability (OBA) methodology across our services in order to promote an outcomes focused approach to our services. OBA enables us to report on outcomes achieved, working within the Every Child Matters framework and evidence how we are making a difference to the lives of children, young people and families. We are also able to demonstrate continuous improvement in our services, by using the “Turning the Curve” tool and performance report cards. We place a high level of importance in partnership with local authority commissioners to provide the best possible services for the local community. Through delivering outcomes for children we contribute to outcomes for the whole community and priorities identified within local planning processes. We strive to deliver these outcomes in a creative and efficient way, building on the resources already available in local communities.
