charitable trusts
a foundation of trust
Charitable Trusts and Foundations, for many years, have made a significant impact on our work. The support of many Charitable Trusts and Foundations has ensured we have been able to continue working alongside vulnerable children and young people here in the UK and overseas for over 140 years.
Thank you for your interest in supporting our work with children and young people.
why give?
how your trust could help
We have a dedicated charitable trust team who will work with you to find the most appropriate project for your trust to support. Whatever the size of your trust, your money will help us improve children’s lives.
We know that grant making trusts are often inundated with requests for funding.
At Spurgeons we are keen to work with individual trusts and foundations, to ensure that we are meeting your requirements. We promise to keep your trust updated in the format you prefer; in addition we will provide you with timely and appropriate updates, if required set up regular meetings and host you to visit the project you are supporting.

Big Lottery Reaching Communities Programme awards Spurgeons Shout Project £456,606 over 3 years
Alison Rowe, Big Lottery Fund Head of the South East region, said: “Spurgeons has been doing fantastic work in Oxford and Banbury to help residents make positive changes to their local areas. Since the group was established in 2006, complaints to housing providers about anti-social behaviour have reduced significantly and we hope the funding awarded to them will help to build on this achievement.”
Spurgeons Shout project works as a partnership in three of Oxford Citizens Housing Association (OCHA) neighbourhoods, helping residents to work together to bring about change and tackle issues where they live. It helps young people and other local residents set up activities such as football, dance, parenting courses, drop-in sessions, play-schemes, after school clubs, and encourages intergenerational events such as community ‘Oscar’ ceremonies and meetings to encourage young and old to share ideas and concerns.
The innovative community support developed by Spurgeons with the active participation of local people, schools, churches and organisations in Oxfordshire has already proved an outstanding success The award will enable us together to achieve stronger, more cohesive communities, in areas that normally are not big enough on their own to attract the resources they need.
Spurgeons LA-UK awarded £12,000 following vote by local people for the Community Cashback Scheme
Community Cashback is a new scheme from the Ministry of Justice and Criminal Justice Board which gives local people a say in how recovered criminal assets (for example confiscated cash or property) should be spent in their communities. Littlehampton based Spurgeons LA-UK is one of the first projects to be successfully awarded a grant for its work from this scheme. LA-UK works with young people aged 8 to 16 who display the most challenging behaviour and are at risk of, or already, failing at school and becoming involved in crime,
Project manager Mark Yates said: “Through our work we see young people making life-changing choices as they participate in our after-school sessions that are designed to tackle behaviour, improve young people’s relationships with family and friends, increase their attendance at school and help them say no to anti social behaviour and crime.
“We ensure the 80 young lives we work with each year have a clear path towards a prosperous and crime-free life. This funding is a real tribute to our team, which includes volunteers who have previously been service users. Knowing the community’s vote helped us win the award is a great encouragement for us all.”
